3rd Quarter 0-2 Marks Party

The 3rd Quarter 0-2 Marks Party took place on Tuesday, April 8th.  Ninety-nine of our Irving students earned the privilege of enjoying an ice cream sundae during the celebration.  We are so proud of these students for following our Irving expectations of being respectful, responsible, and safe.  These students deserved having an extra special treat for being leaders at our school.

Perfect Attendance Party

We had a Perfect Attendance Party on Friday, February 28th to honor 24 Irving students that had perfect attendance for the first half of the school year.  We are so proud of these students for being here and on time every single day!

East White Oak Church partnered with us to recognize these students. Volunteers from the church provided a special lunch which included pizza, pop, a candy station, balloons, and fancy decorations.  We’d like to give a big thanks to EWO Church for making the party such a great success!

0-2 Marks Celebration

The 0-2 Marks Celebration took place on Tuesday, October 29th. We are so proud of the students that participated in the celebration. The students that earned this privilege are considered to be role models at Irving School.

During the celebration, the students rotated through three stations including a ghost craft, a pumpkin with ghost snack, and a mummy wrap race.

We would like to thank the members of the student recognition committee for organizing this event.  Mrs. Nelson took the lead and did an incredible job creating and organizing the stations.  Mrs. Searby attended the event, and Ms. Fudacz created an adorable Positive Pumpkin Patch bulletin board. We would also like to thank the PTO for donating supplies and volunteering their time at this event.  In addition, we are so grateful for the East White Oak Church members that volunteered during these fun stations. Working together we created an event that these students will never forget.

Attendance "Out of the Blue"

Dear Families,

On Tuesday, October 1st, the Positive Behavior Team surprised 74% of our student population with an "Out of the Blue" for great attendance. These students earned a can of pop because they had ZERO unexcused absences or tardies.  Please go to the pictures tab to view more pictures from this special event.

These incredible students inspired us to set a school-wide goal of 80% of our student population having ZERO unexcused absences or tardies.  Once we meet our goal, we will have a school-wide celebration to reward their success.

Please support your child in accomplishing this goal. It is important to make sure that your child is on time and ready to learn everyday. When students miss school, they miss out on valuable learning experiences.  Please read below to learn more about excused and unexcused absences.

EXCUSED ABSENCES:

  • Illness of the student (however, a student reported absent and seen about the community, after being reported sick, may be declared unexcused.)
  • Illness or death in the students family
  • Early dismissal for medical appointments
  • Court appearances of students
  • Observance of a religious holiday
  • Situations that cause reasonable concern to the parent(s) for the safety or health of the student
  • Other situations beyond the control of the student as approved by the Board of Education or by the building principal
UNEXCUSED ABSENCES:
  • Truancy from school or class
  • Leaving school without permission from any school official
  • Shopping, babysitting, , being out of town, and vacations
  • Leaving class without permission from the teacher
  • Out of school suspension
  • Missing the bus
  • Parent appointments
  • Oversleeping or tiredness

3rd Quarter 0-2 Marks Celebration

Many Irving School students had the opportunity to participate in our 3rd Quarter 0-2 Marks Celebration on Thursday, March 21st.  As a special reward for good behavior, these students rotated through stations including limbo, relay races, and snow cones. Irving school would like to thank Mrs. O'Shea for taking the lead on organizing this special event.  We would also like to thank Ms. Fudacz for creating such an adorable bulletin board to recognize these students.  Finally we would like to thank all of the teachers, PTO members, and East White Oak Church members for volunteering their time to make this celebration such a great success.  Together, we created an experience that these students will never forget.
